Unlined earth ponds and canals lose a large share of their water to seepage. A geomembrane liner, protected by a geotextile on rough or stony ground, seals the bed and sides so stored and conveyed water reaches the people who need it.
Geocells can be added on canal slopes to hold a concrete or soil cover in place, and flexible LLDPE sheet copes well with the irregular shapes common in farm ponds. Typical projects include irrigation canals, rainwater harvesting tanks, aquaculture ponds and storage reservoirs.
