Liner and cover systems that keep leachate, process liquids and gases out of the soil and groundwater.
Landfill bases, caps and process ponds rely on a geomembrane as the main barrier, usually with a nonwoven geotextile above and below it to cushion the sheet against stones and sharp edges. Seams are welded on site and tested, so the barrier is continuous across the whole area.
The same systems are used for mining and heap leach pads, industrial effluent lagoons, secondary containment around storage tanks and sludge storage. The liner type and thickness depend on the chemistry, exposure and settlement expected.
